Streszczenie
Euro jest drugą najważniejszą walutą międzynarodową na świecie. Pierwsza dekada jego funkcjonowania była pomyślna dla gospodarek krajów eurolandu, lecz na początku drugiej dekady zostały obnażone błędy konstrukcyjne strefy euro (brak wspólnej polityki finansowej i wspólnego budżetu). Dotknął ją głęboki kryzys gospodarczy i zadłużeniowy, ale zasadniczo nie zaszkodziło to międzynarodowej pozycji euro. Działania ratunkowe EBC i nowe rozwiązania instytucjonalne w strefie euro zaczynają już przynosić pozytywne efekty. Można oczekiwać dalszego wzrostu roli euro na rynkach międzynarodowych.

THE SECOND DECADE OF THE EURO AND THE PROSPECTS FOR OBERCOMING THE CRISIS IN THE EUROZONE
Summary
The euro is the second most important international currency in the world. The first decade of its being in use turned out to be very favorable for the economies of the eurozone countries. However, the second decade of its operation showed the main failures in the construction of eurozone as lack of common fiscal policy and budget. In spite of the fact that the eurozone was clearly damaged by the economic and debt crisis, the international position of the euro was not basically disturbed. The efforts taken by the EBC in addition to new institutional arrangements that have been initiated in the euro area are starting to show positive effects. It seems that the further increase in the role of the international position of the euro will be in progress.
