Fuzje i przejęcia firm oraz serwisów internetowych stanowią integralny element, jaki wpisany został w funkcjonowanie i rozwój e-commerce w Polsce i na świecie. Są one pewnym rodzajem twórczej destrukcji, zachodzącej w Internecie w sposób ciągły i nieprzewidywalny. Fuzje i przejęcia w e-commerce są dowodem nieustannie zmieniającej się struktury Internetu i dalszej ewolucji firm w nim działających. Przykładem firm, dla których fuzje i przejęcia stały się warunkiem koniecznym dla ekspansji i dywersyfikacji działalności na rynku internetowym są eBay Inc., właściciel eBay.com i QXL Poland, firma nadzorująca działalność serwisu aukcyjnego Allegro.pl. Fuzje i przejęcia prowadzone przez te firmy pozwoliły im na osiągnięcie przewagi konkurencyjnej nad innymi serwisami oraz przyczyniły się do ich sukcesu.

Mergers and acquisitions of companies and websites are an integral part of what has been introduced into the functioning and development of e-commerce in Poland and around the world. They represent a kind of creative destruction taking place on the Internet in a continuous and unforeseeable way. Mergers and acquisitions in e-commerce are the evidence of the ever-changing structure of the Internet and the continuing evolution of companies operating through it. The examples of companies that have etched this kind of expansion and diversification of the Internet market in their business models and strategy are eBay Inc. and QXL Poland. Mergers and acquisitions carried out by these companies allowed them to achieve a huge competitive advantage and success in just a few years.
