Banki odgrywają kluczową rolę w rozwoju gospodarczym Polski. Podstawową działalnością tych instytucji nadal pozostaje rola depozytowo-kredytowa. Jednak są obecne także w pozostałych segmentach rynku finansowego i pełnią tam np. rolę pośrednika w sprzedaży instrumentów finansowych na rynku kapitałowym, ubezpieczeniowym i emerytalnym. Ich działalność przyczynia się w różnym stopniu do dalszego rozwoju wszystkich segmentów rynku finansowego.

Summary
Banks play a key role in the development of the Polish economy. The core role of these institutions remains the role of deposit and lending institution. However, they are present in other segments of the financial market and play the role of intermediary in the sale of financial instruments on the capital, insurance and pension markets. Their activity contributes in varying degrees to the further development of all segments of the financial market.
