APPLICATION OF STATISTICAL METHODS IN REGIONAL ANALYSYS - AN THEORETICAL OUTLINE
Summary
Knowledge about cities and regional development grows in a cumulative way. Regions play a basic role in the economic and social system of the country. They represent the concentration of economic activity, i.e. the creation of total value and jobs.
This article is an introduction to the methodological problems of regional studies. Understanding the growth of cities and regions and their role in socio-economic development of the country requires an analyse of all their mutual functions that the cities/regions represent and the relationships and connections between them and the environment. There is a certain interdependence between the economic fundamentals of functioning of the region and the level and living conditions of people and relationships in the urban network.
The article presents some chosen methods of quantitative and qualitative analysis, which can be applied in studies of the economy of the region/city. Translated
