W artykule przedstawiono wybrane zagadnienia dotyczące genezy i rozwoju polityki przemysłowej w UE. Jest jedną z młodszych polityk unijnych. Kompetencje w zakresie polityki przemysłowej przyznał Wspólnocie dopiero Traktat z Maastricht. W najnowszej strategii unijnej Europa 2020 podkreślono ukierunkowanie polityki przemysłowej na odbudowanie konkurencyjności przemysłu UE i wzrost jego innowacyjności.

The industrial policy is one of the youngest policies of the EU. It is the Maastricht Treaty that made the industrial policy valid. In the latest EU strategy Europe 2020 there is an emphasis that the industrial policy is aimed at the development of the competetiveness of the EU's industry as well as the growth of its innovation.
